Windows Phone’s Settings Menu Mess

The folks over at setentaydos did an extensive comparison of the settings menu lists, between Android (lollipop), iOS 8 and Windows Phone 8.1. Of all the features of Windows Phone, the settings menu is the most nonsensical and irritating part.

The settings menu follows no logical ordering, or easy to arrange layout; or even an alphabetical display. Instead every time a new setting option is added it’s randomly thrown in there creating an even bigger miss.

Starting with the dead space on the settings menu (as seen above), both Android and iOS only take up 11%, compared to the 23% on Windows Phone. Furthermore the settings list on Windows Phone is longer than the vertical layout on both Android and iOS combined, and shows absolutely no logical sense of ordering (as seen below).

Although the people who put together the comparison didn’t offer any solutions to Windows Phone’s problems, at worst this does highlight how disastrous of a layout the settings menu on Windows Phone is.
