Nokia Purchases Alcatel-Lucent for $16.6 billion

In the past there have been plenty of rumors regarding talks, and possible acquisitions between Nokia and French telecoms company Alcatel-Lucent, now the deal is finally made as Nokia have announced their acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent for $16.6 billion (twice what Microsoft bought their D&S divisions for). The acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent is more likely related to networking infrastructure, as Nokia are currently working on 5G support, however the possibility of hardware mobile devices is on everybody’s mind, given that Alcatel-Lucent are Android OEMs.

One thing is clear however, that Nokia are reinventing themselves, focusing on their strong points, such as the networking; given how they already purchased their previous networking partner “Siemens”, and now Alcatel-Lucent; they’re obviously working on being the greatest network provider out there.
