Huawei Ascend Mate 7, fingerprint scanner & 4100mAh battery

It looks like the Chinese company really worked round the clock on its current phablet to make sure that any loopholes that would invite any form of criticism are sealed. In terms of body, the excuses were stuck down by a hard aluminum casing which, besides providing solid protection also gives the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 a first-class look. The aluminum shell is only dominant on the back as the front of the phone comprises ultra-thin bezels on the sides and commendably thin ones on the top and bottom of the phone. This might have been reached by getting rid of the home button which is usually situated on the lower bezel and placing the Huawei brand in its place. The upper bezel now holds the speaker and the 5MP camera. This ensures that the screen occupies maximum space and that the weight of the device is checked.

There is also hardly anything to complain about the display! This is because even though the screen is a whole 6 inches, Huawei slammed in Full HD resolution (1920p x 1080 pixels) with a density of 368 pixels per inch which makes text, images and videos crisp clear. This is upped by the tough, brightly colored, Gorilla Glass 3 IPS touchscreen which supports viewing at acute angles. It is worth mentioning that the phone can be operated fluidly even while wearing gloves. One may wonder why Huawei saw no need of including a home button on the Ascend Mate 7. This is because on the slightly curved back of the phone, below the 13MP camera is a fingerprint sensor strategically placed to be easily accessible by the index finger. It ensues thus that instead of tapping the home button to awaken the phone, you only have to pick it up and the phone awakens once it senses your fingerprint. The beauty of this is that the phone need not face in a particular direction for the sensor to work. It is however a disappointment for the fingerless folks.
You can do quite much with the improved camera quality for both the secondary and primary cameras but we will not dwell on this very much since there are other exciting features worth our consideration. For instance, the powerful 4100mAh battery was just an amazing choice for Huawei. Though the bright and massive screen on the Ascend Mate 7 may devour it faster than expected, it will last you much longer on standby and unbelievably longer when the ultra-power saving mode is activated. It should not worry you that the battery is screwed in because it may not need frequent changing for back-up.
The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 runs on Android 4.4.2 operating system which may be a likely loophole that invites criticism since most people may have expected the up to date Android 4.4.4 OS. However, the 4.4.2 KitKat is modified by Huawei’s own Emotion user interface version 3 which adds some tweaks and ensures that users do not recognize the Android OS from the onset.
In terms of hardware, The Ascend Mate 7 is powered by an Octa-core Kirin 925 processor comprising 1.8 GHz Quad-core Cortex A15 and 1.3 GHz Quad-core Cortex A7 chips. RAM is determined by the internal memory installed on the device. For instance, the version that comes with 16GB of internal storage has 2GB of RAM while that containing 32GB internal memory has 3GB of RAM. Be it as it may, there is serious power in the processor and thus the functionality of the phone is hardly minimized by the difference in RAM and internal storage. You can expand storage via microSD.
In the final analysis, the excellent battery, the large bright screen, the durable aluminium body, the noble fingerprint sensor, improved camera quality and generally impressive design may outplay the outdated OS to see the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 put up stiff competition in the phablet bracket.
