Tecno Phantom Z mini, Octa-core CPU & Super AMOLED display

Tecno Phantom Z mini measures a record-breaking 6.6 mm in thickness but that is as far as its compactness goes. The display is a 5-inch Super AMOLED type with a sharp resolution of 294 pixels per inch. Granted this is not a match for its larger sibling – the Phantom Z, but the equipped AMOLED display plays a huge role in ensuring complete crispness and color saturation. We can’t emphasize enough on just how slim the Phantom Z mini is. Manufacturers are definitely not producing devices this small for the mid range. Instead, such expertise is a reserve for the high end handsets even for seasoned manufacturers.
Tecno Phantom Z mini
At the core, an Octa-core processer (8 CPU cores) keeps the Phantom Z mini ticking energetically. This is coupled with 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM. Additionally, an equally powerful graphics processor paves the way for gamers and HD content consumers. With Android 4.4.2 KitKat topping it all, the Phantom Z mini is one of the smoothest Android devices in the mid range. Generally magazine apps, web browsers and some social apps which are heavy on resources will find no trouble with the Z mini.
Frequent music listeners will certainly appreciate the availability of Dolby enhancements on this handset. This provides for clearer bass and surround sound experience when connected via earphones. The 3.5 mm audio jack gives you a chance to hookup a set of your choice in case you find performance on the bundled set unsatisfactory. 16GB of flash storage is provided for each device. Out of this, about 3GB is taken up by the OS and 13GB is free for your use. This is sufficient for most users but might be a little cramped for avid gamers. Lack of a microSD slot makes things even worse since you can’t extend the onboard storage.
The camera department is mostly a reproduction from the original Phantom. There is a 13MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera also with flash. It’s still possibly the highest resolution we have seen on the front side of a smartphone this year. While we haven’t had a chance to play with the device, the high pixel count should be able to produce more detailed images that can be printed out or zoomed in without much distortion. When dealing with such images, the internal storage alone may hardly be enough. Therefore, Tecno provides USB OTG (On-the-go) functionality for transfer of large files directly to offline storage devices.
